If water is leaking, turn the water off at the nearest service valve and then at the mains tap outside. If you cannot locate the main shutoff valve or a tap to the appliance, then turn on all the cold taps inside and out to help depressurise the pipework and reduce the leak.

Once that is done, give our plumber a ring, whatever the day or time is. We’ll be with you promptly to get things sorted.

While you wait for our emergency plumber, clear away any significant items, wipe up any water, and place a bucket to catch any drips. You should also switch off the hot water heating if the main water is turned off.
